Being responsible means not only ensuring the quality of our collections, but also favoring a short supply chain. This is why 50% of our collections are manufactured in Europe, in our workshops in Portugal, Spain or Italy. All references produced in Europe are transported by road in order to considerably reduce our carbon footprint. For the remaining 50%, maritime transport is preferred.
When making a shoe, leather tanning is the step that has the greatest impact on the environment through the use of chemicals and significant water and energy consumption. At Cosmoparis, with a large majority of our models made of leather, our awareness is real and we want to take action.
64% of the models in our collection are made with leather from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group at the “gold” level, the highest of the four certification levels of this standard.
The Leather Working Group (LWG) certification is an international benchmark certification for the environmental performance of tanneries (energy and water consumption, discharges into water, air emissions, etc.). By 2025, our ambition is to have 80% of our models with leathers from LWG gold certified tanneries.
